Under Private Forestry Programme, SEDIT facilitates training on business skills, sustainable enterprises and facilitation of access to financial services for the respective communities through VICOBA/VSLA so that they can run optional livelihoods while waiting their tree plantations to mature and therefore avoid premature harvesting of tree plantations.
The project focuses on funding and capacity building in forestry value chain in the Southern Highlands. SEDIT also works with WWF on provision of business skills training and access to finance for environmentally friendly income generation activities using VICOBA approaches. Through VICOBAs, community participation in sustainable fishing has been reached by training fishers and supporting them to purchase suitable and appropriate fishing gears.
